Now: Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences
The American Psychological Association is now publishing the journal Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences, formerly the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, January 2014 issue. This quarterly journal promotes science that advances the study of human behavior from an evolutionary perspective, with an emphasis on work that integrates evolutionary theory with other approaches and perspectives from across the behavioral sciences.
Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences is the official journal of the NorthEastern Evolutionary Psychology Society (NEEPS). The journal supports the society’s mission by publishing articles that explore the role of evolved mechanisms in real-world phenomena, the consequences of evolved behavior for the patterns and structure of society, and the interplay between evolved psychological mechanisms and cultural influences in driving behavior.
The Editor of Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences is Dan O’Brien, Ph.D., Research Director of the Boston Area Research Initiative and Lecturer at Harvard University. He is joined by Associate Editors Aurelio José Figueredo, Ph.D. of University of Arizona, Andrew Gallup, Ph.D. of SUNY College at Oneonta, Peter Jonason, Ph.D. of the University of Western Sydney, Satoshi Kanazawa, Ph.D. of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Catherine Salmon, Ph.D. of Redlands University, and Book Review Editor Pedro Wolf, Ph.D. of the University of Cape Town.
Articles published in Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences, including those of its predecessor JSEC, are available through PsycARTICLES®, the most used full-text database in psychology and one of the most popular databases in all scholarly disciplines and fields. PsycARTICLES is available to a global audience of nearly 3,300 institutions and 60 million potential users.
The founders, editors, and staff of JSEC would like to sincerely thank everyone that made the journal a success in its inaugural 7 years. We truly appreciate the support that we received and that helped JSEC grow and transition into EBS. We also wish to give a special thanks to the New Paltz Campus of the State University of New York for hosting and technical assistance with the journal.
